First Grade
HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Birthdays - We will make sure the children feel special on their birthday! *Students will be sung to by their classmates and will receive a small gift from their teacher. *If desired, trinkets/party favors or a small allergen-free treat (starburst, fruit snacks, lollipops, gummy bears) can be brought in to be passed out by your child at the end of the day. *Please note that invitations are not allowed to be handed out at school, unless the whole class is invited. Also, the teacher cannot email birthday invitations. We thank you for your cooperation with this!
HOMEWORK - Your child is expected to read for at least 10-20 minutes each night.
-Other tasks for homework may include practice of high-frequency words or spelling words, this varies by teacher and student.
-NEED HELP WITH READING MATERIAL? Let your child's teacher know and we are so happy to find a way to get books home to you!
LUNCH - Please practice your child's lunch card number with them. It helps the line move quickly and give them more time to eat!
-Food with peanuts are allowed in lunches, but are not allowed in snacks for Brain Break.
-If bringing lunch from home, please label your child’s lunch box with first & last name.
-There will be absolutely no sharing of food with others.
WATER BOTTLES - Please make sure your student brings a small water bottle to keep in the classroom. Please label the bottle with your child’s first and last name. Students will be able to fill their water bottles at our classroom sink or at the water bottle filling station by the Bistro.
We ask that the bottle have a spill-proof lid (instead of a lid that unscrews) to prevent spills.
WATER IS THE ONLY LIQUID ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM.
Our team of teachers love this special year of academic and social/emotional growth.
